Welcome!

I hope you are all enjoying your summer. I'm pleased to present you with another newsletter filled with lovely animal Reiki stories from some amazing practitioners!

On a personal note, I'd like to share with you all the video I created in memory of my beloved dog, Dakota, who passed away on July 5, 2008. After a 2 month rebound and recovery in health, he began to decline again in June. I know many of you have met him in the early years when I taught classes out of my home. He was an amazing teacher! And thank you again from the bottom of my heart to all of you who have supported his health with Reiki for these past several months!

On the business scene, the DVD is in post-production phase: our title is: Animal Reiki: The Basics and Beyond. We will soon be done with the trailer and be taking pre-orders. I will send out an email to all of you as soon as the trailer is ready to view: I can hardly wait!

And finally, my newest project, which I will send more news about very soon, is the creation of a new non-profit association: The Shelter Animal Reiki Association (or SARA as we are calling it). I've found two wonderful co-creators in Leah D'Ambrosio and Johanna Campbell, and the three of us are working hard to create this association for the promotion of the benefits of Reiki for shelter animals. We are starting with 24 founding members across the country, and in time we will open the doors to many more people across the world! The website is in the works, and I'll send you all the link with more information once it is done.

Lastly, please read the below information about a kitty in dire need of a safe home: she was rescued from a very difficult feral situation and can't be returned to where she came from. I hope you can help!

Please visit the Share Your Stories section below to find out about contributing to a future newsletter. Your experiences with animals and Reiki will help and inspire others!

Finally, think about deepening your connection to the Animal Reiki Source Community by furthering your education through the many class offerings, joining our free monthly Animal Reiki Talk, or joining our "Animal Reiki Source" yahoo group for help and healing of our animal friends.

With Love and Reiki Blessings,

Kathleen

Something about Merry

Have you ever been deeply affected by an animal? Merry the office cat reeled me in, hook, line and sinker the first moment that our eyes locked. I arrived late one fall afternoon to meet the office manager and the animals of my local humane society. There she was, the most beautiful white and black kitty, lying on the couch in the conference room. Have you ever been deeply affected by an animal? Lewis came to Gyrn Cottage Cattery as a referral case from the Shrewsbury Branch of the Cats Protection. They were aware of my work with cats using Reiki and Animal Aromatics and wondered if I could help with Lewis who had become very aggressive following the amputation of his right hind leg. As Lewis was fully vaccinated and would pose no threat to the other cats in the Cattery I agreed to offer him a pen and see what I could do to help him.

Dino, the Miracle Dobie

Dino, a wonderful Dobie, had many ailments throughout his life. He had a heart condition and was riddled with tumors and arthritis. Due to his health conditions he was on medications and could no longer go through any stressful medical procedures. When I first began to communicate with Dino he would always look as if to say I'm grateful for your healing hands.

Rice the Cat

It was a beautiful warm May morning; Spring was definitely in the air. I decided to take advantage of the weather to take my two miniature schnauzers for a walk. It was a lovely walk despite the dogs pulling on their leashes and barking at all the squirrels and birds. As we headed toward home, I noticed something lying in the grass right by the curb. At first I thought it was a rag but then I noticed a little head that popped up. About this time my dogs noticed it too and began straining on their leashes even more. I managed to get them home and I went back to investigate.

On May 18, 2008 (about a week after receiving my level two Reiki certification) a group of us, and our two puppies were on our way to Michigan to spend the week with friends for a Native American ceremony. Every time we make the journey up North, we see several hawks and usually have the good luck of finding a hawk that has already passed on the side of the road- in Native American tradition the hawk is honored in that it is used to make fans for ceremonial purposes. This particular trip, my boyfriend Scott spotted a hawk resting in the grass on a highway turn around.

My Dear Reiki friends,

It is with a tearful soul and beloved memories that I share with you the passing of my most wonderful canine companion, Dakota "Pups" Prasad. Rescued at just 13 weeks old from Sacramento County Animal Control, Dakota spent his life at my side, eventually becoming my very first Animal Reiki Teacher, and the impetus for this Animal Reiki journey. His 16 1/2 years were far too short a time to fill the world with the joy and sweetness that embued his very essence... Making this tribute to Dakota has helped me grieve, helped me to focus on his life well-lived, and helped me to stay in the space of gratitude. I am ever so blessed to have been able to share his heart for even one day... and I know his energy continues on...

Enjoy the video, and give a big hug and kiss to your fur kids for being who they are in your life!

With Love,

Kathleen
